Caithness Long Island

CAITHNESS LONG ISLAND

Year: 2009

Project Type: Industrial

The Caithness Long Island Energy Center, completed in 2009, was the first major power plant project built on Long Island in more than 30 years. The 350 MW combined cycle power plant features both gas and steam turbines, along with heat recovery steam generators to provide reliable, clean power to the Long Island power grid. The plant also features an air cooled condensing system, saving billions of gallons of water over the period of the plant’s life. ABCO Peerless provided design and installation services and currently performs inspection, testing and maintenance for the sophisticated life safety systems in this great, modern infrastructure project.
