American Indian Museum

National Museum of the American Indian

Year: 1994

Project Type: Cultural

The National Museum of the American Indian located in downtown Manhattan is one of three museum spaces dedicated to the preservation of American Indian artifacts in the United States.  In addition to the over 800,000 artifacts depicting American Indian life in the United States, there are a range of other exhibitions, including film screenings, school programs and live culture presentations.  What makes this museum even more unique, however, is that it is housed in another national historic landmark – the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House, which brought its own set of challenges when ABCO Peerless completed this project in the early 1990s.
