William G. Bowe, Founder
William G. Bowe founded the ABCO Automatic Sprinkler Company in 1958 with his father in law, Anthony Robillotta, while working as a sprinkler fitter after returning from his service in the Korean War. A graduate of Manhattan College’s School of Business in 1951, Bill saw an opportunity to be a part of a growing market and closed ABCO’s first contract on his 30th birthday. Over the next 30 plus years of his career, Bill led ABCO Automatic through a series of changes, the largest being the acquisition of Peerless Automatic Sprinkler and Modern Sprinkler to form the ABCO Peerless Sprinkler Corporation in 1972. Bill served as a steward to the fire sprinkler industry for many years, starting the New York Sprinkler Contractors Association, serving as the President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of New York and holding various positions in the National Fire Sprinkler Association, where he was inducted into the Fire Sprinkler Hall of Fame in 2008. Bill earned the 3rd license issued to Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractors in the City of New York in the early 1990s and held many other such licenses in the greater New York Metropolitan area.
Timothy W. Bowe, President and CEO
Timothy W. Bowe, Bill’s son, spent many of his teenage years working in the business as a shop hand and sprinkler designer in training before heading off to Manhattan College to study in the School of Engineering. In 1980, Tim graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked in the consulting engineering industry for several years before returning to ABCO Peerless. In 1995, Tim was made President of the company, leading it through yet more changes, including the founding of ABCO Peerless Fire Suppression, the company’s relocation to its current headquarters in Hicksville, NY and the founding of New York Fabrication and Supply. Tim’s dedication to the industry has been undeniable, serving as the president of the New York Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the Mechanical Contractors Association and the vice chairman of the Engineering and Standards Committee of the National Fire Sprinkler Association. He was named a fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers in 2008 and an Honorary Battalion Chief in the Fire Department of New York in 2004. Tim has been a part of most of the influential legislation regarding the installation of fire protection systems in the Greater New York Metropolitan area since Local Law 5 was put into action. He currently sits on the Fire Protection Code Committee for the City of New York and was also named to the New York City Buildings Resiliency Task Force.
